LSST [2009.10.63.0541] Customer Notice: Conficker worm attacks are already defeated in two ways
Customers of LiveSquare Security who may be targeted by the dDos component of Conficker infected machines are already protected.

The LSST has performed detailed analysis on the attacks the Conficker worm will perform and found that they are already in our database. They also found that 32 other, but similar, variants are also in the LiveSquare Security database.

It is important to understand the Proactive Defense Network (AGDN) and how it operates. The PDN/AGDN uses hardware and software, but it also uses two types of data; attack profiles and a list of known attackers. Most people focus on the list of known attackers. This method will stop active aggressors including Conficker infected aggressors. The other method is the attack profiles data. This is a comprehensive list of known attacks which allow the PDN/AGDN to quickly identify a new incoming attack.

The LiveSquare Security Team (LSST) has verified that the Confickr attacks expected to target a multitude of web sites, including Southwest Airlines on March 13th, 2009, will be picked up by the attack profiles method for those who are targeted in the first wave. Known Conficker infected machines will also be blocked by the Proactive Defense Network (AGDN). This will protect everyone else in the customer enterprise.

Those customers still having questions or concerns are encouraged to contact customer support between the hours of 7am and 7pm mountain standard time.
